NEED HELP FINDING A FACILITY?

Finding a facility for your loved one can be a difficult task. Let us share some of our knowledge with you...

EXPLANATION OF FACILITY TYPES

Nursing Homes: This is far and away the most common. These facilities house various levels of patients care, from rehabilitation patients, to long term residential care. They are usually larger facilities.

FOR CHRISTMAS DAY PROGRAM:  These may require a little longer time commitment if you wish to visit everyone. If you are bringing gifts, you may require more gifts to give out. An easy way to conduct your visit may be to have the adults walk the hallways singing Christmas songs while the children knock on doors and hand out gifts. These facilities have a shorter window of visiting time, because most residents get up late and go to bed quite early in the day. Midday visits would probably work best with these residents. The people in these facilities are usually very friendly, and open to receiving visitors. Statistics show that 85% of these residents rarely receive visitors. So, the need is greater for these people to witness the love of God on Christmas day. Please call ahead to schedule, or at least inform them that you will be coming by.

Assisted Living: These facilities are usually quite nice, clean, and friendly. The residents are usually very active and appreciative. They typically have numbers of activities during the week.

FOR CHRISTMAS DAY PROGRAM: Even though many are active, there is still a big chance that no one will visit with them on Christmas day. These facilities vary in size so you might want to call ahead to see how many residents you will need gifts for. Please call ahead to schedule, or at least inform them that you will be coming by.

Alzheimer’s: These are facilities with active residents who have been challenged by minor to severe memory loss. The residents are usually alert, and fun to visit with. Most of the residents would truly appreciate the special attention.

FOR CHRISTMAS DAY PROGRAM: Alzheimer’s facilities vary in size and because of confidentiality issues need to be called prior to visiting to secure permission. These facilities vary in size so call ahead to see how many residents you will need gifts for.

Residential Care: These homes are usually private residential homes with approx. 6 to 12 residents. The homes are usually well kept, clean and more “homey”.

FOR CHRISTMAS DAY PROGRAM: A visit to these people could be as simple as a short 15 minutes ‘just dropped in to say, Merry Christmas!’ or could last a half an hour or more, depending on your desire. You will need to call ahead to set a time. In most homes you will be well received. There is usually some family involvement with these residents but more attention is always welcomed.

Retirement Homes: These facilities are similar to Assisted Living facilities, and in some cases house both active independent residents and assisted living residents. The residents are usually very active and appreciative. They have a large numbers of weekly activities.
